I’ve dedicated my life to sharing yoga with as many people as possible. Along the way, I’ve tried a lot of yoga accessories, promising to enhance people’s practice. While some are spot-on, others miss the mark. Throughout my years of practice, there are only a few accessories that I have kept around and today I am delighted to share them with you!
1. Dharma Yoga Wheel — You've probably seen these wheels at my yoga studio and on my Instagram; however, they are so much more than flashy props. The Dharma Yoga Wheel was specifically designed to mold to the contours of your spine, which is helpful in advancing backbends, increasing flexibility, and most importantly invoking a spirit of playfullness in your practice.
2. Yoga Paws — I love traveling, but it isn't always easy to lug my mat around; in fact, I've actually left my mat in the overhead bin before. Enter Yoga Paws. These “portable mats” attach to your hands and feet, making it possible to practice anywhere! No excuses, now! :)
3. Liforme Mat — This is one of those products that makes you say, “Why didn’t I think of that?” These mats have markers on them to encourage better alignment. They’re also longer and wider than the traditional mat, and they’re flexible, firm and cushy all at once! I loved this mat so much after trying it that I actually opened an account. Buy your liforme in Atlanta at Thunderbolt Power Yoga or directly from them online.
4. Violet Love Headbands — I met Violet Love CEO and Founder, Rebecca Michael's, at NYC Yoga Journal Conference in 2013. I was drawn to her stand in the marketplace; it was so full of color, and the people working her booth were smiling and energized. I picked up one headband immediately, and before I'd made it home, my hands were stuffed full of headbands! This is the ultimate headband; it doesn’t slip, it doesn't give you a headache, the designs are cute, and it's the ultimate fix bad hair days & a post yoga sweaty hairline.
