My quest for fabulous smelling chemical free cleaning supplies started sometime between my experimentation with vegetarianism, plant based eating, and being a super yogi. I've dabbled in alternative cleaning methods since I was a student at Virginia Tech. My natural remedy enthusiasm began when I was frequenting EATS, a tiny health food shop specializing in herbs and homeopathic remedies where I met a 60's era hippie who helped with my reflux - which, no medication has been able to relieve. I went cold-turkey from my meds and followed his recommendations; within days, I felt significantly better. Somewhere between tofu and oregano shots I fell in love with doTERRA Essential Oils. My normal cleaning routine includes a lot of vinegar with uplifting essential oils; however, vinegar is acidic, and it can easily deteriorate the sealant on granite that protects it from stains and etches. Vinegar can dull the professional finish of the granite, and it can even cause etching, impacting the structural integrity and beauty of the stone. Because of these risks, I use a specific cleaner for our granite counters.
- 1 Cup Rubbing Alcohol
- 4 Tbsp Castille Soap
- 2 Cups Water
- 3ml Essential Oil (about 60 drops)
I chose these essential oils because I love the way they smell. When it comes to cleaning supplies, doTERRA CPTG oils double as immune boosters and aromatic enliveners. Let me know which oils you like to use in the comments below.
