Homemade All-Natural Baby Solutions
/I've dealt with sensitive skin for as long as I can remember. As a child I was accustomed to eczema outbreaks and irritation from perfumes and cleaning products. I remember when my mom switched to Free & Clear laundry detergent, had me take my own fragrance free lotion to the nail salon, and when I broke out in a terrible rash from Windex on the day of my senior prom (the horror). Because I've experienced the wrath of skin sensitivity issues, I have been careful to use only natural solutions on my daughter, Channing.
Natural Lotion for Baby
- Fractioned Coconut Oil
- For every 1 tablespoon of fractioned coconut oil add 1-2 drops
I add lavender to Channing's lotion because of its inherent soothing properties. Lavender has both antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties; additionally, lavender is used to treat skin conditions and inflammation making it the perfect additive for baby's soft skin. Bonus, CPTG (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) lavender is gentle enough for infants and it smells heavenly.
Natural Diaper Cream
- Coconut Oil : Nutiva
- For every 1 cup of coconut oil add the following:
- 2.5 ml dōTERRA Lavender
- 2 ml Melaleuca (Tea Tree) Oil
- For every 1 cup of coconut oil add the following:
Because of Melaleuca's incredible healing properties and its ability to fight infection, it has been touted as an essential-oil cure all. Melaleuca not only acts as an antibacterial agent, but it also speeds up the process of healing. It has been used as a preventative measure in preventing infection specifically in open wounds. Diluted Melaleuca has helped me keep Channing's bum rash free; additionally, I used it to aid in healing a rash that was contracted from the perfumes and chemicals in disposable baby wipes. (We now use cloth).
Natural Shampoo for Baby:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup liquid castille soap
- 1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin
- We use Vegetable Glycerin
- 10–15 drops doTERRA Lavender
